Is Pizza Really Bad For You?
Many people really love pizza, yet it is one of those foods that is touted as being bad for you and it is not nutritious. This is both false and true. The truth lies in the ingredients. On surface the ingredients of pizza are quite healthy if you choose properly. Lets see what it takes to make a Healthy Pizza.
The Bread
The beginning of all good pizza is the dough. For health reasons processed bread, made from white flour is not good for you. So to make you dough healthy you want to choose a whole grain dough to start your healthy pizza. This way you avoid the unhealthy carbohydrates found in processed breads, doughs and flours. This also helps you avoid gaining excess weight and fat. Whole grains are good for you and they provide good carbohydrates.
The Sauce

The Down Side
There is no down side to a healthy pizza made with healthy whole grain dough, organic sauce and cheese with fresh vegetables and seasonings except we are often addicted to the unhealthy food. We are addicted to the excess sodium in our processed foods. We are addicted to the sugar or sugar substitutes that causes weight gain, heart disease, cancer, diabetes and a long list of diseases. This addiction gives many people a sense that without the salt and sugar you are used to in its various forms, that the food is bland. Nothing is further from the truth if you know how to use other herbs and seasonings than salt and sugar.
